In 2019 the Portuguese National Parliament developed a wide range of initiatives to mark the Bicentenary of Portuguese Constitutionalism.
At the centre of the commemorations was the exhibition “The right over oneself: 150 years of the abolition of slavery in the Portuguese empire”.

The Portuguese Parliament is the legislative body of the Portuguese State. It is the second sovereign body of the Constitutional Republic and is composed by 230 deputies, elected for four-year terms.
