Convento de São Francisco (St. Francis Convent) dates back to the beginning of the 17th century. Throughout the history of the building, it served as a hospital, barracks and also housed a textile manufacturing unit. Acquired by the Municipality of Coimbra, the building was refurbished and is now a cultural and congress center.
