Multidisciplinary Institute for Ageing

MIA (Multidisciplinary Institute for Ageing) is a research center aimed to improve the different stages of ageing. Several institutions and activities are involved in this effort, namely with Advanced Education and Training at the University of Coimbra, with Innovation and Technology Transfer at the Pedro Nunes Institute (with products and services aimed at a healthy lifestyle, and contracts with the pharmaceutical industry); with Translational Clinical Research at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Coimbra (through therapeutic and prophylactic clinic).
The MIA project results from the consortium: CCDRC - Regional Development Coordination Commission of Portugal Midlands, University of Coimbra, Newcastle University, IPN - Pedro Nunes Institute and UMCG - University Medical Center Groningen.
MIA is the first research institute in Southern Europe focused on this area.
